I believe in the power of film to promote conservation issues to the non-scientific community. Only when we are aware of environmental concerns can we take action to do anything about it. Sharks are my favourite animals so it means a lot to help a charity that directly supports these beautiful creatures.
Many of you might have heard of “shark girl” (pictured above). Her actual name is Madison Stewart and she has recently set up a non-profit called The Hooper Collective (named after the Jaws character Matt Hooper who was the only person in the infamous film that wanted to save sharks through science, education and documentation).
The Hooper Collective aims to “inflict change and shed light on laws exploiting sharks, change the human perception of sharks and fight the trades decimating sharks around the world, while improving the quality of life for humans at threat from these animals”. Donations to this charity support Madison’s conservation efforts through activism and film-making. Click here for more information and examples of her work.
I will be donating 10% of all profits from the sales of my prints to the Hooper Collective.
Thank you for your support.
